Many things change with time. Thankfully. After all, this is the only way for good things to get better. The grippy Vibram® outsole remains unchanged. But a cushioning midsole and a number of functional details have been added to enhance the footwear. What’s more, the asymmetrical C4 tongue creates maximum wearing comfort. The system that features X-LACING®, the dual-zone lacing and roller eyelets also creates a fit that is tailored to each wearer’s individual needs. To help people walk naturally, we have added a lace hook that works in combination with the FLEXFIT® system and reduced the amount of material used in this area. To prepare this moderately stiff hiking boot for any type of weather, the tough nubuk leather of which the footwear is made is equipped with a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane.

— Show originalAfter testing about ten pairs of shoes, we settled on this one, it felt good right away. The first weekend with shoes on, we ran through the woods. It felt good at first, but then the top of the ankle started to feel a lot of pressure, when I opened and adjusted the front flap and tightened the shoes again, the pressure disappeared. So it takes time and a bit of experience to get the shoes to the right tightness and the front flap to fit, but when you get it, it's really nice to walk. The grip of the soles also felt good on wet rocks, stream stones and mossy slopes.| Overall rating |
— Show originalAfter test use of a couple of penis corners for a multi-day hike where all possible terrains and humidity levels were tested, there were no blisters with the use of two sea socks; the last is not the widest, but not the narrowest either; stiffness definitely B/C class, even if it is not mentioned in the product description; it held water well despite being covered in mud for almost a day, the upper leather of the shoe did get watery (I trusted the factory waxing, it was hardly done) and the weight of the shoe was noticeable.Well designed and built boots. Bought for an alpine hunting trip in New Zealand, no blisters in very steep terrain, comfortable to wear all day when back down in the local towns

Excellent price, product, communication, delivery and service. Cannot recommend Varuste enough! The boots are typical of Lowa and of very high quality and comfort. The only thing to watch out for is the sizing - I usually wear a size 11.5 but with these boots size 11 is the best fit.
