Robust and enormously versatile – an absolute trekking classic. The Hanwag Alaska Pro Wide GTX is made for anything from demanding day hikes to outdoor adventures that span several weeks, carrying a heavy pack. Thanks to its Gore-Tex lining, it keeps your feet dry even in mud and rain, while the slightly higher scree-protection rubber rand on the Alaska Pro Wide GTX version protects the leather against cuts and scratches.
Sturdy, durable, die-cast metal lacing components generate a reliable fit. Inside the boot, a polyurethane midsole is topped by a 0.2 mm thick layer of TPU foil. This makes the sole unit not only light and exceptionally comfortable, but easy to look after and more resistant to hydrolysis. The footbed is made of chrome-free tanned leather. The high-cut upper is made using a one-piece construction method that stabilises and protects the ankle area. For those with wide feet, the Wide Last, which provides extra room at the forefoot and ball of the foot, prevents pressure points from forming at the side of the forefoot.

A rugged and well made boot. My experience you’ll likely need to order a larger size than you wear typically. I’d say a 1/2 size larger at a minimum. I ordered 1 full size larger and they fit well.

So far so good. Exactly what i expected. Quality boots!!!!!! Too early to give a full review as ive only worn them once. They will take abit of breaking in. Im hopeful these boots will look after me for a good few years!!!!!

It was surprisingly light in all respects and did not cause any chafing or pain even though the drive-in was not done. The insoles were replaced before I even tried them on.

Very happy with my HanWag shoes, this is high level quality! Everything from the insole, which is hand-sewn to the fit and the outer leather. Particularly good is the sole with a deep pattern and (in my opinion) more or less perfect rubber mixture for good grip on most surfaces in mountains and high mountains. The protective rubber on the shoe that goes high from the heel, along the entire side to the toes is what made me choose HanWag and it's a fantastic solution and perfect before protecting the shoe!
Highly recommend them :)

These are extremely good boots. I'm hard on my gear and usually wear out walking shoes within a year. Prior Hanwags have lasted 18 months to 2 years. These look like they are more robust again. The rubber sole seal runs high up the leather, enhancing water resistance and they are extremely high for ankle support. I'd recommend these for heavy users that want the ankle support, but they are heavy, and 4 lace hooks make them longer to lace up. I ordered half a size up, as I like a bit of room, but the wide version handles this, and next time, I would order the correct size. Absolutely recommended, but bear in mind that these are serious walking boots, with the implications that entails.

Great hiking shoes. A little steep at first but very comfortable after a few steps
Good manufacturing quality. Fits normally.
I wear size 44 in city shoes (paraboot type, or timberland...) and I chose 44.5 for these HANWAG shoes. It's perfect as for my MEINDL.
