Product description
Magic Wood - Bloc Bouldertopo, third edition. Magic Wood stands as a premier bouldering destination situated in the southeast of Switzerland. Nestled within a wooded ravine near the village of Ausserferrera, within the German-speaking canton of Grisons, this venue offers a stunning setting for climbers. The granite blocks here typically feature a steeper climbing style and are predominantly located amidst pine woodland on the western slopes of the ravine, with a select few, including the renowned Bruno block, situated within the riverbed.
Late spring, summer, and autumn present the optimal seasons for visiting Magic Wood. A unique phenomenon known as "cold venting," stemming from the deep permafrosts and caverns beneath the blocks, creates conditions around the boulders that are much more favorable than typical air temperatures would suggest, rendering this locale a popular summer retreat.
Magic Wood is divided into nine sectors, each meticulously detailed with quality overview maps and photo topos, utilizing Fontainebleau grades throughout. The guidebook encompasses indexes of routes by both grade and alphabet, encompassing over 1200 boulder problems, with accompanying comments for nearly every problem. The guidebook is in German, English and French languages and caters to climbers of diverse backgrounds.
