I’m really happy with the Ortlieb Vario PS QL2.1 26L. I have not had a bike pannier before, but find it is easy to attach and detach from the bike rack. I am also really happy that it converts to a back pack quite easily. The back pack is comfortable. The cover which protects the straps while using it as a pannier or covers the pannier attachment when using it as a back pack is a bit stiff. I’m hoping that loosens up a bit with regular use. I do already see a small tear at one edge where it always seems to get stuck when pulling it from one side to the other - so I’ll keep my eye on that. None-the-less, this flap requires just one fastener to be undone when switching from one mode to the other. The bag has nice capacity and includes a sleeve for transporting a laptop if needed. This also has a zippered compartment, which is useful for keeping numerous small things. It hasn’t rained since I started using it, but the construction looks very suitable for wet conditions. I’m thinking I should have got one of these years ago.

Great prdouct - good and fast service

This is such a useful pack and feel way bigger than 26L. Definitely bigger than my Mystery Ranch Coulee 30L pack. The flap can be a little fiddly and must be sinched as tightly as possible so it won't come undone while on the bike but it's otherwise perfect.

Very well designed bag to combine the 2 functions (bag/backpack). Functional: quick and secure installation on the bike. Quality equipment and supply of accessories for adjusting the attachment to the bicycle structure. Satisfactory volume for everyday use but a little tight for running errands - I'm thinking of buying a second one with this in mind. I regret that Varuste does not offer the Ortlieb anti-theft device for this bag. A plus would have been to have the possibility of compartmentalizing the interior, a bit like camera backpacks. It remains to be seen how it resists over time. My use is daily, which is also the reason for choosing this renowned brand.

The bag has exactly the functions I need. It can be quickly clicked onto the luggage rack and stays in place while driving without any annoying rattling. Once you arrive, you can quickly convert it into a backpack. The backpack sits comfortably on the shoulders. And the side that got dirty while cycling is covered. Received a few weeks ago, the backpack/bag fully met my expectations. It is very comfortable to carry as a backpack, even when it is very heavy. After a few times, the installation in my car was very successful, more of a challenge in the garage. It goes well with you and you hardly notice it, even with a few kilos of weight on board. The backpack is sturdy on the back and the carrying straps on the back sit comfortably. Although the backpack is bigger than I thought - I'm a 160 cm woman and the backpack is really big on my back, but at least it can fit a work laptop and training gear well. I wish there was a much smaller model of this! However, I think the backpack is stylish and the petrol color is great. I got tired of dragging bike bags to the workplace on bad carrying straps and ended up with this backpack. The reversible flap is not that convenient to use, especially if the backpack is full of stuff, but it does the job. It usually takes less than a minute to adjust the flap to the right position. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, and the backpack is for everyday use.

I find this bag really perfect. I ordered it this time for my brother after using mine for a year daily. No trace of wear. The bag is very durable. Moreover, the design is well thought out: unlike most backpacks that can be fixed on a bike, the hooks are not under a foam in the back but on the other side of the bag. This makes the bag very comfortable to carry. In summer also because there are sorts of ventilations in the back. It stands on its own when placed on the ground maintaining its shape, which is convenient to fill it. Its capacity is very suitable for me with three pockets, one of which is very functional. Despite the bike bindings, it remains very reasonable in terms of weight. I recommend this bag 100% it is expensive but it is well worth its price. It is a very good investment for frequent use, it will make your life pleasant.

Bought for my wife's daily commute and combine bike/hike day trips. She absolutely loves it! This is hands down the best pannier/backpack combination bag. Period. Ortlieb might seem expensive...they are absolutely worth the money. I bought an Ortlieb office/computer style pannier ten years ago and I still use it daily. All the seams are solid and the pannier connection system is original. I've only had to replace one buckle and that was because I broke it in an accident.

This is exactly the kind of product I've been missing. I do a lot of everyday cycling by bike and for a long time I have been looking for a bag that can be used as both a saddle bag and a backpack. I don't want to carry things in a backpack at all. Now, when I go to the store, I can easily lift the bag from the rack onto my back during a shopping trip, the purchases at the checkout directly into the backpack, then the backpack on my back and when I get on the bike, onto the rack. The product works great both as a backpack and as a bike bag. This is comfortable to carry on your back even when full. The backpack is surprisingly big, a little smaller would be enough. On the other hand, it can easily accommodate e.g. office needs and (indoor) rope climbing or bouldering equipment at the same time. Turning the "flap" requires a bit of practice at first, but it's getting easier. The pocket found on the same flap is a little disappointing because it is not promised to be waterproof. In addition, the zipper of the flap pocket can only be found on one side ("backpack mode") and because of this, it would be good to have some place to store keys and a phone. The laptop pocket inside can be removed, but the velcro fastening on the underside is so difficult that I can't do it constantly.

I have been looking for a long time for a hybrid waterproof backpack that can be attached as a bag to the luggage rack but above all that can accommodate a 17-inch laptop. It does not fit in the cover provided for tablets and the like, but it has its place in the bag. I can also easily fit 2 more large binders and my lunch there.

Great so far, the square shape is much better than the original Ortlieb waterproof bags and the backstraps are comfy. The cover is a little awkward to reverse but I reckon I'll get the knack of it in time. Two things that stop it getting five stars: The outer zip pocket isn't waterproof, and the backing on both strap and hook sides make the pack fold in a bit and make it narrow and slightly awkward to fill. Overall though, I'm loving it and recommend.

Absolutely excellent purchase! Surprisingly, the backpack fits on your back and the saddlebag works like a saddlebag. Maybe black wasn’t the coolest choice, but at least for sure.
