Been in use for over a year, I upgraded from the original Garmin Instinct. The use has been versatile, everyday use, running, cycling, skiing, indoor rowing and hiking. An absolutely top device for versatile use. Although the battery life depends somewhat on the user, for me, the charge lasts approx. 10-14 days when I use 2-5 hours a week to record performances. In the summer, I used hiking as an orientation support. I recommend paying for Garmin's own terrain maps of Finland if you intend to use them as navigation support. It's absolutely brilliant, with a couple of button presses you can quickly check your location and that way the battery doesn't wear down much. During a week's hike, the battery only consumed approx. 45%. If you're willing to pay a little more, the 7X solar is even better for orienteering due to its larger screen. If you drive in very sunny weather, solar charging does not actually increase the charge, but prevents it from wearing down. Compared to e.g. the Forerunner collection, the Fenix 7 is a slightly heavier metal case, although it doesn't bother me and I can still use it at night while sleeping. The plus point is that new features come regularly with updates. If you like wrist computers, use them almost every single day, and value versatility, it's hard to go wrong with this choice!
