— Show originalA device that feels competent. The antenna of the collar transmitter was surprisingly long, but did not seem to bother the dog. The dog is a small beagle. The collar was a standard collar that could be shortened quite a bit. Sliding the collar transmitter into the collar required a bit of grip on the fingers, but the transmitter would seem to be firmly attached to the collar. A few cable ties were also included to keep the transmitter and antenna in place.
The handheld is the right size and shows at least enough information about the dog's location for your own hunt. With the handheld, you can view the dog's position and movement in the map view or in the compass view, which shows the dog's direction relative to the handheld. The compass display also shows the dog’s distance, but it seems a bit indicative. A few times the compass display has said the collar is 300 meters away, even though the collar was a couple of meters away. In addition to the dog's location, the map view shows your own location, which is a good thing.
The handset display is clear and suitably large. I ended up here with the so-called. older model, as the functionality of the touch screen in the woods is questionable, especially when the device should be handled with gloves in hand and quickly.
The device could do anything to monitor and record runs, etc. However, these features may be a bit useless. The manual is worth reading, but still some stuff was hard to find on the device, such as turning the transmitter safety light on / off and adjusting the refresh rate. Sometimes the wrong button is still pressed and you have to go back to the adventure for the function you want.
One big downside is that the collar can be turned off with the power button on the collar transmitter. It would be better if the collar power switch was on the handpiece or so that the collar cannot be turned off without the handpiece.
