Before the hike
Inspect the tent: Before each trip, carefully inspect the tent for any damage or wear. Ensure that it is intact in all aspects. Also, check that all parts related to the tent are present and accounted for. A reliable way to conduct a tent inspection before a trip is to set it up in your yard or nearby area and observe the condition of the tent and its accessories. If the tent is unfamiliar or if it has been a long time since you last camped, this inspection will also serve as a refresher on how to set it up, so you won't have to relearn it in potentially challenging weather conditions in the field.
Reeproof the fabric if needed: If the tent fabric no longer repels water properly and the material allows it, you can reproof the tent with a waterproofing treatment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and use treatments and products suitable for your tent material. The biggest threat to tent fabric is UV radiation, which not only degrades the water-repellent treatment but also the fabric itself. Reproofing the tent is especially important if the tent is used frequently or left standing for long periods (not packed away during the day, etc.). PRO TIP: For long camping trips, you can use a light tarp to absorb the sun's strongest impact if you intend to keep the tent in the same place for very long periods of time.

Setting up and using the tent
Choose the most suitable location: Choose the location of the tent carefully. Make sure that the terrain is flat and as dry as possible considering the conditions - or at least make sure there is no puddle or an area that easily turns into it: avoid placing the tent in pits or low areas where water may accumulate during rain. In rocky areas, also keep an eye on the fact that you are not directly in the path of the rainwater, if it happens to rain hard during the night.
Use a footprint: Whenever possible, use a footprint to protect the bottom of the tent from wear and moisture.

Keep shoes outside: Keep shoes and other dirty and muddy items outside the tent to avoid bringing dirt and moisture inside. Many tents have a vestibule where you can store your gear protected from the weather, so you don't have to bring dirty and wet items into the sleeping area.
Air out the tent: Whenever possible, air out the tent by drying it, especially in damp conditions before packing it. Many tents have good ventilation features, which you should familiarize yourself with and take advantage of while camping. Good ventilations also guarantee a more pleasant stay in the tent and reduce the of condensing moisture (caused by residents and possible damp stuff) on the inner surface of the inner tent.
Also, consider the tent location; if you set up the tent in a completely sheltered spot, its ventilation may not work properly. So, take this ventilation aspect into account as well.
MSR Tents: How to prevent tent condensation
Cleaning the tent
Clean regularly: Wipe and clean the tent regularly to remove dirt, sand and debris that can wear down the fabric or clog the pores of the breathable fabric.
Dry thoroughly before packing: Before folding and packing the tent, make sure it is completely dry to avoid the formation of mold, odors and other growths.
Repairs
Repair small defects: Small defects, such as small tears / tiny punchholes, can usually be repaired with appropriate tape or glue. Often, small problems with zippers are caused by too tight installation or dirt between the zippers.

Major Repairs: If the tent has major damage, such as large tears or seams that have come apart, consider sending the tent to the manufacturer or other professional for repair.
Other repairs: For example, broken tent poles cannot be easily repaired. Generally, tent packages include various repair sleeves that can temporarily fix a tent pole to last the rest of the trip. During the pre-trip inspection, ensure that basic spare parts are included. The most common reason for the arch breaking is probably that the pieces of the arch are not completely attached to each other, causing the
'female' part to break from its mouth. Make sure that the rubber band inside the arch is tight enough, and that the arch is well assembled.
Fortunately, quality tent brands manufacture spare parts for tents, so any cords, stoppers, poles, arches, or stakes lost in the field are available separately. This is one of many reasons to choose a proper, high-quality tent as your hiking companion.
